Terms & Conditions
MOTION RUN CLUB is a community running club based in Leicestershire. By joining, reserving a run, or attending a club event, you agree to the following terms. They exist to keep every runner safe, every event well-run, and the community we're building genuinely welcoming.
Participation at your own risk
Running carries inherent physical risk. You participate in MOTION RUN CLUB voluntarily and at your own risk. You are responsible for ensuring you are medically fit to run, listening to your body, and adjusting your effort to match your ability and current condition.
Health responsibility & waiver
Before your first run you must complete the online waiver. By signing it you confirm that you are in good general health, have no pre-existing medical conditions that would make participation unsafe (or have informed us of any), and accept full responsibility for any injury, illness or loss sustained while participating. If you are unsure, consult a qualified medical professional first.
Conduct & community standards
MOTION RUN CLUB is an inclusive community. We expect every member to:
- Be respectful, welcoming and supportive of every other runner regardless of pace, ability, gender, race or background
- Avoid abusive language, harassment or unsafe behaviour
- Follow the route, listen to leader briefings, and respect the public spaces we run through
- Take care of any litter, signposting or shared equipment
We reserve the right to pause or revoke membership for anyone whose conduct undermines the club's values or the safety of others.
Run safety
- Wear suitable running shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
- Be visible in low light — high-vis or reflective gear is strongly recommended
- Carry water for warmer evenings and longer routes
- Look out for fellow runners; we run as a club, not a race
- If you separate from the group, message a club lead so we know you're safe
Event cancellations & route changes
We may cancel, postpone or modify any run with reasonable notice for reasons including but not limited to: extreme weather, route hazards, low attendance, or safeguarding concerns. We will communicate changes through the website, email and, where time allows, the Instagram channel. No refunds apply as participation is free.
Photography & media consent
We occasionally take photographs and short videos at runs for use on our website, the @motion_run_club_uk Instagram, and other club promotional channels. If you do NOT wish to appear in club media, please tell a club lead at the start of the run and we will exclude you from the day's content. You can also email us to request removal of any existing image featuring you.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MOTION RUN CLUB, its founder and any volunteer leaders accept no liability for personal injury, illness, death, loss of personal belongings or any other loss arising from your participation in club activities — except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
Membership expectations
- Keep your contact and emergency-contact details accurate by updating them in your member dashboard
- Cancel a reservation if you can't attend, so we can offer the place to someone else
- Show up on time — meet a few minutes before the published start time so we can brief and check in cleanly
Intellectual property
All branding, logos, designs and written content on the MOTION RUN CLUB website are the intellectual property of the club founder. Members are welcome to share photos and Instagram posts about the club — please credit @motion_run_club_uk.
Website & app usage
Misuse of the website (attempted unauthorised access, automated scraping at scale, abuse reporting or signups, etc.) may result in revoked membership and IP-level blocks. Use only the features intended for members.
Strava integration disclaimer
Strava integration is optional and members connect their own accounts inside the member dashboard. MOTION RUN CLUB displays only the privacy-safe summary (first name, distance, duration, pace, date) and never GPS routes or notes. You can disconnect or toggle public display at any time. Strava itself is a third-party service governed by its own terms — please review them at strava.com/legal/terms.
Governing law & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Questions — email hello@motionrunclub.co.uk.
